For Roger Rivera, chest pain, shoulder pain and coughing up blood were all symptoms that lead to the diagnosis of cancer.
“Dr. Joob set up a biopsy of the tumor and thankfully he ordered genetic mutation testing, because if he hadn’t I would have never known I was a candidate for immunotherapy,” Rivera says. “Once he explained I was a good candidate for the new innovative treatment that’s when I was referred to Dr. Arthur Hooberman.”
Immunotherapy is a cancer treatment that uses parts of the patient’s immune system to fight off diseases like cancer. Advocate Medical Group on the campus of Advocate Lutheran General Hospital received the national 2017 Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) Innovator Award for advancing access, quality and value in cancer care delivery in immunotherapy.
We’re for the bold step. For the breakthrough. At Advocate Health Care, we are transforming the way we treat cancer.
